Just gorgeous antique Remington Rand Model 5 Streamline, with original case and cleaning brush. “REMINGTON 5” in a vintage Art Deco typeface above the platen. Serial number V928134 dates its production as July 1937, that from TWDB’s index of Model 5 Streamline
It is non-functional due to its broken carriage drawband, which is the means of “carriage return”, a straightforward repair for any of several mail-in typewriter repair shops. The drawband in this model is a length of slender catgut cord, the broken end clearly shown in Photo # 100_9930.
View its VIDEO to see that all keystrokes are smooth and working fine (visit the Photos page), nothing serious or bent that would complicate restoring it to full functionality, which requires replacement of the drawband.
Please note that to give you a better look inside, some of the included photos were taken with the top cover removed. One of the ribbon spools is missing its top-flange. The case is missing its key.
Typewriter measures about 12.5 x 12.5 x 5 inches and weighs 16 lbs. The case is about 14 square x 6.5 inches and weighs 4 lbs. Non-functional and for display purposes; in as-found condition and sold AS-IS.
Given its superb cosmetics, straight out of the box it will make a lovely display piece in your home or office.
