Genuine McCoy c.1943 Clown Cookie Jar, Vintage Original Paint

Made by the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Zanesville Ohio in the 1940s, genuine original McCoy clown-bust cookie jar, with original paint nearly entirely intact, colors include: Red, blue, green, yellow and black, on an overall cream-white colored glaze. The paint is extremely fragile, we recommend that you do NOT do any cleaning, or if you choose to, take great care and expect to lose some paint.

Incised “McCoy” on the bottom, this cookie jar stands about 10.5 inches tall and 7 inches wide, and weighs in at 3 lbs 11.5 oz. No serious chips or cracks that we can see but please carefully look at all of the photos. There are several hairline cracks in the lid, where it meets the base, but they all appear to be at least partially covered with glaze, so we think they are manufacturing defects; see the RED PEN photos. There is substantial crazing in the white glaze as to be expected given its age.
