Exquisitely carved, and marked “A. Fatimah”, these are wood sculptures that would make a fantastic pair of bookends. Substantial and solid at 12 inches tall and more than 9 pounds the pair, this couple, a man and a woman in traditional Balinese costume, were carved in the 1940's or 1950's in Bali. Beautiful rich dark color and luster! And wonderful wedding or anniversary gift!
SPECS: Each figure has overall measurements of 12" tall x 8.2" by 4.3", and the pair weigh in at 9 lbs 2 oz. The MALE figure weighs in at 4 lbs 0 oz, has a chip missing from his headpiece, and has what appears to be a small repair on the sash-area around back measuring about 5x18mm. The FEMALE figure weighs in at 5 lbs 2 oz, has some checking indicative of age, the largest being a crack on her back at shoulder-level that has a maximum width of about 1mm and length about 50mm. Each is marked "A. FATIMAH, BALI" on the bottom.
