Description -m- Item # 21001333

Wise old sage, "Owl on Books", made Art Deco Period circa 1925 by the Pompeian Bronze Company, a pair of vintage electroformed bronze-clad figural book ends, with original polychrome paint (red and black on book, orange and black on eyes). A beautiful and memorable pair!

Same design as the Marion Bronze Co. pair shown as plate no. 172 in Kuritzky and De Costa, except our Pompeian Bronze Co. pair were made in the 1920s (PB was defunct by around 1930) and almost certainly designed by Peter Manfredi around 1921.

SPECS: Each measures about 6.75" tall by 4.2" wide by 2.8" deep, the pair weighs in at 5 lbs 6 oz. Marked "56, Pompeian Bronze Co." on the back of each.
