Nautical maritime theme. A nice pair of tall ships, in the form of the Mayflower, of Pilgrims voyage of 1620 Massachusetts Bay Colony fame. Made Art Deco Period circa 1925 by the Galvano Bronze Company (marked “TARRANT” on the back, which was part of a trade-name used by Galvano Bronze Co.) A pair of vintage electroformed bronze-clad figural book ends, with original polychrome paint (blue, orange, green, white, red).
SPECS: Each measures about 7.8" tall by 5.85" wide by 2.25" deep, the pair weighs in at 5 lbs 2 oz. There are several dings and small cladding breaks (on the order of 2x3 mm) in the bronze cladding that forms the ships. The backs are not at an exact right-angle to the base, and also exhibit some curvature, possibly a manufacturing anomaly.
