Super Bowl great freeze-frame action. “The Tackle”, made Art Deco era circa 1925, featuring one football player tackling another player carrying the football; each is wearing an old-fashioned leather football helmet.
An "L" shaped bookend, most likely made by the Pompeian Bronze Company or the Armor Bronze Company, a single vintage electroformed bronze-clad figural book end with original polychrome paint (red, very dark cyan or blue-black, and black). On the back: "THE TACKLE". Rare, not even listed in Kuritzky and De Costa.
This listing is for ONE (1) bookend only; it could be used as a coffee table figurine or sculpture, desk paperweight, or statuette on the mantle. Of course, you can use it as a single bookend if your bookshelf is closed at one end. Or, pair it with another book end that you own.
SPECS: Measures about 7.2" tall by about 5.0" by 2.6", and weighs in at 2 lbs 9 oz. Original paint and patina in good condition considering its age, see the photos. No breaks or tears in the bronze cladding.
